This is accomplished by using a part called the “reversing valve.” The valve has a slide inside it, which moves from one position to the other to change the direction that refrigerant flows through the system. Sometimes, the valve can become stuck in one position, preventing the ductless system from switching between modes. If your ductless system is stuck in air conditioning mode, it is very likely that your reversing valve needs to have repairs. That should enable your system to switch freely between modes again.
